Re: Track day prep - Davrian mk6

Earplugs work very well, the yellow ones are best. Good luck at Le Mans.

Re: Restore or convert

An update on Mk 5 K series / vw box. The road going car with carpets etc and some fuel is 630kg and so not much more ,if any, than standard imp. The handling is great and feels more like a mid engined car than rear engine. I have never driven an imp engined car. The base engine is completely standar...

Re: Headlamps

I have similar headlamp treatment to this orange car but fitted 5 1/4 inch lamps so that I could fit perspex covers over them. No loss of brightness detected.

Re: petrol tanks

The scrutineers were quite strict about this at the time (1970's)...

Re: Lose the roof

Lots of Mk 5's had sun roofs, including mine (since fibreglassed over by a previous owner) so I would have thought integrity was not a problem.

Re: Lose the roof

Hi Mark, I think it would be fairly easy to lose the roof on an early davrian, the ones without the rear buttresses, but it would be hard to do a tidy conversion on the buttressed cars methinks. However, looking sideways at my MK 5, I think the way to go would be a targa top, in fact the longer I lo...
