Re: Setting-up the suspension
Strangely, I don't recall it handling badly before, but I'm pretty sure the shock mounts weren't as high as yours seem to be. I also don't recall it having negative camber. It's much easier for me to mess with front suspension setting having the flip-front, but I'd be very interested to see how your...

Re: Setting-up the suspension
That's definitely a bit low at the front. Looks like mine did before I fitted the AVOs. Here's how it was in 1994 when I replaced the rear shock mountings. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7462/15310114684_8a93c4d2dd_b.jpg My daughter (in the car) had just helped remove the original mountings which we...

Re: Setting-up the suspension
It's a bit of a problem isn't it! I suppose if someone was setting a car up for rallying, you'd raise it at the front simply by using longer stroke shocks and long springs. The towers could also be lowered on the shell if necessary, then to compensate for the resulting positive camber, the central p...

Re: Setting-up the suspension
No question about this sort of thing is stupid....it's stupid to not ask! Yes, I meant mine had been set up wrongly by whoever built the kit in 1970. Tim told me recently that Adrian & Co Ltd sent the early shells out without fitting or pre-drilling the suspension mounts, and that (as there were...

Re: Jack Knight 5 speed gearbox
News on the JK 5 speeder. The guy who initially said he wanted it is back in touch, and confirmed he definitely wants it, so I think we can consider it sold, unless something unforseen happens.

Re: Setting-up the suspension
All I can think is your shock carriers are mounted too high on the shell. Mine were 13mm different measured off the floor.

Jack Knight 5 speed gearbox FOR SALE (again)
I've decided to sell a Jack Knight 5 speed race box...straight cut CR gears, full JK LSD, all in excellent condition. These boxes are increasingly hard to find. This one's been fully checked over by Ian Sykes.
Anyone interested mail me.

Re: Setting-up the suspension
So it's either your running very short springs or the front shock towers are fitted too high on the shell...

Re: Setting-up the suspension
Hi Dave,
I had a look at the pix of your build on Photobucket...very impressive job. Lots of attention to detail.
Which electric waterpump did you use?
I have Tim D suspension arms on the Mk 7 but Imp on the Mk 4.

Re: Setting-up the suspension
Rob, do you mean negative camber is increased under braking? The way Nugget's car seems to be running on the inner edges of the tyres, already, that would not help! I remember at one point for some reason Dolores was running a lot of negative at the front, but it turned out to be because there was ma...
