Mk5 History wanted

Post by motorsportjohn »

Does anyone know anything about the Mk5 in this picture taken at a Goodwood sprint in the late '70'S ('78 or '79)?

If so, I would be pleased to hear from you so that I can update the NDR records.

Many thanks

Hi John.

I'm afraid I don't know the car but I would suggest that it is actually a Mk5.

If you look closely you can see that the join line of the rear section to the buttress is sloping forwards, and the shape of the rear wheel arch/rear quarter is definitely more Mk5 than Mk6.

Yes, you are absolutely right.

Having scanned in the photo, now that it is enlarged, it is possible to see that the join between the central and rear bodywork slopes forwards as per the Mk5 - I should have looked at it in more detail.

However, as you will see, I have now updated my original post accordingly. Many thanks for your input.

Perhaps this should act as a prompt for me to add a Davrian Mk recognition page to the NDR website.
