Hi all does anyone out there have some idears on the weight of there cars,rolling or fully built !!
My Mk 8 seams quite low,no seats no engine or box,but other than that fully rolling,even 1/4 of a tank of fuel in both tanks 475 kilos.

My MK8 is around 610kg on the road with a couple of gallons of fuel

On the rollers at the Mot the other day, my mk6 weighed in at 580kg with half a tank of fuel.
How does that compare with other imp engined road going davrians?

At the last count my Mk6 was just about 550kg with a couple of gallons of fuel in the tanks.

I will tell you friday the weight of my mk 6a will be.
probabley much heavier with all the extras on it.

My race Mk 4, wet, with rollbar, weighed just over 600kg at scrutineering.

My Mk7, without engine and gearbox, was 400kg!!! That makes it 490kg with the engine and box. It is an ex hillclimb championship winning car, but I'm amazed it's over 100kg lighter than the Mk4....maybe the Mk4 sills are full of water?

It seems they learned a lot about GRP layup between 1970 and 1976, as the Mk7 is longer and wider than the Mk4.

The Mk7 has Davrian fabricated front suspension, and the Mk4 has all Imp, but the Mk7 has heavy iron calipers while the mk4 has alloy ones.

Too much bodyfiller in the Mk4?

Mk 7 lightweight....

my road going mk5 with k series and vw box and 15litrs fuel and on a reliable commercial weigh bridge is 630kg.

At last MOT, my MK5 was 248 daN front, 373 daN rear, so 633Kg

Since i went for electric water pump, lithium battery, multilayer water line and took out a 5 kg bar for belts replaced by Dyneema lines... Next time she should be closer to 600 at the next MOT. Till that moment i still have a lot to do...

Mk8 Renault Hillclimb car. Just had MOT 684Kg f 245Kg r 439 Kg with driver in it,maybe 80Kg , 5lt fuel.
So about 600Kg ready to race.
