Post by davrian6140 »

Hi focks, Just to let you know that my Davrian will be on the road by MAY this year. What a statment,
the car has come on in leaps and bounds lately, a new silencer by MANIFOLW what quality and not to expensive
seeing thay had the car all day and garranteed for it for life. I will get my son to help me put some pics off
the car in its present state. Nice to see Davrians are being rebuilt what a great car , this mk6a is my
third and probabley my last seeing it has taken so long to build.
Davrian 6140.

On the subject of exhausts....I seem to remember that Ian Carter worked out the exact length from end of exhaust manifold to outlet for a tuned Imp engine, to give maximum power.

I THINK it was 42".

I may be wrong on this, but whatever it was, I had a stainless crossover unit built to the Carter spec back in 2001 for racing, with a re-packable silencer.

It sounds lovely, with a Janspeed manifold and the 40 DCOEs gobbling away!

If anyone's interested, I've found a source for high quality replicas of the Janspeed twin 40 Weber type combined exhaust manifolds, in South Africa. His name is Roy Cumber, Roy is on

roy@comlumber.com

Was about 5600 rand plus 800R for (air)postage....shipping about 400R a few years ago.

Thanks

Hi Neil. Just in case you don't have any luck with the exhaust, I can thoroughly recommend Zero exhausts near Ashford in Kent. He did mine and I must say he did an excellent job. As a bonus he does specialise in the older type of vehicle. Just say I recommended him and Check his website. There are no pictures of my car, but virtually every page has a photo of my exhaust. Hope this helps. Gary.

Come on Gary we need pictures of the car now. There must have been major progress if you have an exhaust!

Iain, not too much to show since you last saw the car. The exhaust was already on it when you had a look a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, a few personal interruptions have hindered the progress.

Thanks for the info guys. Have had my existing manifold blasted and I think it will be repairable. In the meantime, I'll start saving up for a new one!
